Usage rights and activation for resellers
As a general rule, images and market-related texts are subject to copyright, and neither ITscope nor Icecat or 1WorldSync are allowed to grant general usage rights, which is simply not possible with several thousand manufacturers. However, as manufacturers are interested in their products being sold and have images made for this very purpose, it is common practice in the industry to use manufacturer product images for sales purposes, e.g. in online shops and quotes, without entering into a licensing agreement with each individual manufacturer for this purpose.
For some manufacturers, the use of images is only desired for selected reseller partners. Accordingly, a general export exclusion for product images or marketing texts applies for these manufacturers. The corresponding data/images are blocked by ITscope for export/API from the system or corresponding content is removed from hosted datasheets, even if they can be viewed within the ITscope.com platform.
The export block can be unlocked for most manufacturers by ITscope after submission of a usage permit, e.g. for Samsung or Philipps.
